Hi Fly Friends! Here in Jersey, it’s still crop top season but, I’m showing you how I gave it a Fall twist … Vintage Child of the Corn style.
Back story: Went on one of my many thrifting excursions this Summer and came across a beautiful long sleeve “shirt-style” dress in the perfect khaki color. Throwing it in the bag was a no brainer until I realized, ugh, yea — not my size. Right there I made the decision this dress is coming home with me but, I will have to figure out how to wear it. Once I got home, I played around, nipping and tucking here and there, only to throw it in the back of my closet and the back of my mind. Had to more than sleep on it. But, then it hit me … CUT IT, turning the dress into a two piece cropped and paperbag maxi situation and I couldn’t be more obsessed!
Pairing with lots of golds, blacks and browns to create an arm party full of texture. Some of these are bangles I took from my grandmother and mother, lol. One “bracelet” is actually an old necklace wrapped around twice. No one wants to go to a party where everyone is the same; mix it up a little. It makes your arm party more interesting!
A touch of sophistication was added with my Marc Fisher suede wrap-up sandals. To be honest, I’m more of a chunky heel, extra funky kinda shoe girl but every now and then, I come across a pair of what I call “sexy” shoes (really, that’s just anything other than boots and block heels) and fall in love. Often they find a warm home in the back of my closet but, when it’s time to show out, I’ve got a new pair of sexy backs to step out in!
Details because the frayed edges and gold buttons deserve a moment for themselves.
