Hey Beautiful People! There’s a message on my heart that I can’t shake so, naturally, I have to share.
So easily, we get caught up (speaking for us, because I know I’m not the only one) in seeking perfection of the tasks that’s before us. So much so, we stand in our own way, pushing off that doable tasks until “I get my money right,” “until I lose this weight,” etc, etc, etc. What we are really telling ourselves is “I can’t do this right now.”
I remember listening to @MissSuccess‘ Hashtags and Stillettos podcast where she spoke on “Done is better than none.” Game changer for me.
At the time, I was struggling with creating a YouTube video — always feeling like I needed the perfect camera, the perfect YouTube set up … you know what I’m talking about — with the white makeup table, the vanity lighting, the “perfect” lifestyle backdrop, all that. And because I didn’t have any of those things, I felt like I couldn’t produce a YouTube video.
So, I put it off. For years. People would ask me to make one to show them how I do my Senegalese twists to showing how I reworked some of my vintage clothes however, I told myself I could not do it. So I didn’t.
One day I decided I was going to figure it out. I spent time setting up my “lifestyle backdrop” and guess what? It wasn’t perfect but, it worked! I set up my camera without a makeup table and definitely without a vanity mirror and guess again? IT WORKED!
Done IS better than none.
By doing, I proved to myself how capable I’ve always been and how silly I was for not trying sooner. Fear will stop you from doing some amazing things and I refuse to let that be my story anymore.
So easily we can talk ourselves out of the things we know we should be doing. We tell ourselves wait until “I lose the weight” and “get my money up.” Chyle, we will be waiting forever because with that mentality, it will always be “something,” some reason, some excuse.
So, I challenge you (like I have been challenging myself) to push yourself past your hesitation and prove to yourself, fear has nothing on your strength!
For me, all it took was a little confidence and too many hours worth of editing to not fear the unknown anymore. Even if you do in silence, not tell anyone that you’re attempting your goals and just go for it — take the fear of “opinions” out of the element, too. All of these things have held me back, and talking to many of my peers, they feel the same way too.
In the words of Jay-Z …
Y’all think it’s bougie, I’m like, it’s fine
But I’m trying to give you a million dollars worth of game for $9.99
Only, this is free and from the heart, lol!
Also, I’m happier. It’s something about having a vision for your life, wanting to do/try something … and actually doing it! WHATTTTT?!?! Who knew it was possible?
I didn’t always but, I do now.
Oh, let’s get it!
until next time,

First of all I love your hair. Secondly people feel like there is a perfect time to do things and there is never a perfect time you just have to get up and go
Hey Chanel!! You’re so right! It’s easier said than done but once done, you’re thinking why the heck did I wait so long? haha
